Reading and downloading information from newsgroups requires both access to news servers and software to read the messages posted on those servers. You use the software to connect to the news server and then you search through the messages for the files that you are looking for. We also have block accounts that are an easy, no-commitment way to use our service. Block accounts essentially let you pay as you go, buying blocks of bandwidth whenever you run out. A block account means no subscription, so you're free to control how often and how much you pay.

Block accounts will never expire. So if you buy a large block you can expect to have that bandwidth available until you've completely used it.

We do not and cannot log what you download. All we can see is the volume of information that you download, not the content.

If you need help remembering your password then it's easy to get it to you. Just click on My Account, and then click on the Forgot Password link. Fill out the form and you'll have your password in no time!

By default, we disable posting for new accounts. If you want to be able to post messages you can email us and tell us that you want posting enabled. Make sure that you include your news server username. If we find the you post materials that violate our Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy then your posting access will be immediately revoked and your account canceled.

Unused bandwidth does not rollover. At the beginning of each billing cycle you will get the same amount of bandwidth, regardless of how much bandwidth you used the previous cycle.

If you go over your bandwidth you will be locked out of the server until your cycle resets and you have more bandwidth applied. If you use auto-recycling then you should have more bandwidth available in about an hour.

You can expect your bandwidth to reset itself each day between 12 AM and 1 AM eastern time.

We give a 10% allowance on all accounts for header downloads. All headers downloaded will show up in your usage statistics. So, for example, a 20 GB account will really have 22 GB of usage counting the header allowance.

SSL-Encryption is a method for protecting your information as you use your usenet account. It encrypts (scrambles) your information so that what you download cannot be deciphered.

You can add/drop SSL-encrypted access at any time, as your security needs change. Just click on My Account and then Change Plan to an SSL plan.

The latest version is version 13.3. We receive updates often, so login to our website to see the latest revision number. You can click on Support and then Downloads to see the latest downloads.

To use the NewsgroupDirect version of NewsRover you must uninstall all prior versions of NewsRover. Once you've done that you can install the latest version from our website and you shouldn't be asked for a product key. NewsRover asks for keys by default when other versions have been installed on your machine.

NewsRover for NewsgroupDirect will only work with NewsgroupDirect servers. Any other servers will be rejected.

There are two primary causes of this error.

1) You are using the wrong username and password. Please check to make sure that you are entering your username and password exactly as it was given to you.
2) You are over your bandwidth limit. If you go over your bandwidth limit you will likely receive this error the next time you try to download. You will have to wait until your bandwidth resets. If this happens frequently you might want to consider using Auto-Recycling for your account, which will ensure that you never run out of bandwidth.

These errors are a result of your newsreader trying to utilize too many connections to the news server in a short amount of time. If you are connecting and disconnecting to the server several times then you may see 502 errors because the server thinks that you are trying to use all of those connections at once. Make sure that your newsreader is configured to use no more than 20 connections simultaneously. You will need to wait approximately 15-30 minutes to be able to get back into the server.

These errors occur when there is something blocking your connection to our server. Either our servers are down for maintenance or your ISP is having problems within it's network. You can email our Support department, through the Contact Us form, and we'll update you.
