Binary Retention Reaches 1400 Days

We are proud to announce that NewsgroupDirect has reached a staggering 1,400 days of binary retention. Our goal is to provide customers with the highest quality of service and we continue to push boundaries each and every day. Today we’ve reached a milestone, but we’re not slowing down on improvements. In just 2 months we will reach a full 4 years of retention. Who knows, perhaps we’ll start referring to retention in terms of months or years instead of days.

So what does this all mean and why is it such a big deal? The term, “binary retention” simply means the amount of time a binary article is available. Because news servers only have a limited amount of storage, some items must be deleted to make room for new posts. Increases in binary retention mean that a usenet provider has invested heavily in infrastructure, which in turn allows the reader to have access to a greater number of articles.
