A bidirectional bridge between a mailing list and a newsgroup, so list mail appears as articles and articles appear as list mail. Many comp hierarchy groups began as gateways to existing lists, and the fa prefix before the Great Renaming marked exactly that arrangement. Header translation, duplicate suppression, and keeping subscription requests out of the group are the recurring problems in running one.
