Sig Virus

Also known as: signature virus

A joke signature asking readers to copy it into their own signature, spreading by imitation rather than by any code. Popular in the early 1990s, the texts usually parodied chain letters or the virus warnings then circulating. Nothing executes and nothing is infected; the humour lies in humans acting as the propagation mechanism. Largely extinct along with elaborate signature blocks generally.
