Simultaneous Connections

Also known as: concurrent connections, parallel connections

The count of NNTP sessions open at one moment across every client using an account. Downloaders open them in parallel because a single stream rarely fills a modern line; eight to twenty is enough for most connections. The total is shared, so a second machine or an automation tool competes for the same allowance and can trigger refusals.
