A paid article feed one operator buys from another to receive groups it does not get through mutual peering. Transit is billed by volume and is the main running cost of carrying binaries, which is why some servers drop the largest groups or carry them with reduced completion. Distinct from peering, where two parties exchange feeds without payment.
