Bottom-Posting

Also known as: under-posting

Placing a reply beneath the quoted material it responds to, so the exchange reads in chronological order. The convention assumed the quote had first been trimmed to the relevant lines; quoting an entire article and adding one sentence at the end drew as much criticism as top-posting did. Most technical newsgroups and many mailing lists treated it as the only correct form.
