The Best Newsreader Applications Available Right Now

If you’re a usenet user, of course you want to have all your feeds (and reads) in one place. That’s why we’ve rounded up some of the best newsreader applications available right now.

Newsleecher is classic usenet software and it’s been available since the early days. Basically, it’s a usenet leeching (downloading) application which will download the newest posts and more from the groups you follow. It’s only available on Microsoft Windows.

Unison is a great usenet browser/reader for Mac. It works well and we love the interface, which is uncluttered and easy to understand. Unison simplifies finding groups, reading messages, and downloading files, as well as uploading and previewing, too. Unison offers threaded messages, which makes newsgroups infinitely easier and more palatable, at least in our opinion.

Alt.Binz is another newsreader, known for its ease of use and popularity.  This newsreader has a handy scheduler (that allows you to choose when your downloads start, and at what speed) and supports several different newsreader search engines. It’s available for Linux, too!

Grabit is a veteran of the usenet scene. They’ve been working on a version 2.0 for a while now, which will hopefully propel them back to the forefront.

Are there any we missed here? Let us know your favorites and we’ll include them next time.
